学部３年生が、製図室で使用する家具を自ら組み立てる「ワゴン組み立て演習」を行いました。

本演習は、25年度より進めてきたデジタル建築教育環境の整備の一環として、学生が日常的に使用するワゴンを対象に、設計・加工・組み立てのプロセスを体験的に学ぶことを目的としました。

演習では、学部3年生約50人が、1枚のラワン合板から端材を出さないよう設計された「ゼロ・ウェイスト」思想に基づく特注キットを使用し、家具職人の指導のもと、あらかじめ機械加工された部材を用い、切り出しや研磨などの作業を通じて、木材加工の基礎や設計上の工夫を実践的に学びました。

本取り組みは家具の組み立てに加えて、広島県産材の活用を通じて、木材の流通（森林）から製品利用に至るまでの一連の流れを理解することも狙いとしています。演習に先立ち、家具製作および林業の第一線で活躍する実務者による講演も実施し、木材を取り巻く産業の現状や可能性について理解を深める機会としました。

Third-year undergraduate students participated in the “Wagon Assembly Workshop,” where they assembled furniture to be used in the drafting room.

During the workshop, approximately 50 third-year undergraduates used custom-made kits based on the “zero-waste” philosophy—designed to minimize scrap from a single sheet of lauan plywood—and, under the guidance of furniture craftsmen, worked with pre-machined components. Through tasks such as cutting and sanding, they gained practical experience in the fundamentals of woodworking and design techniques.
